Stress is a natural reaction of the nervous system to a
threat, or perceived threat of a physical attack, the nervous system recognised
the danger and release adrenaline into the bloodstream, to assist in either
fighting off the attackers or running away (often called the “fight or flight”
response). Once the threat subside the systems returns to normal because
the adrenaline has been used.
Everyday stresses which are now part of every day living are of course not
life threatening, so it is much more difficult for the body to release the
adrenaline so if an outlet can’t be found the unused adrenaline stays in the
nervous system which has a detrimental effect on the body, which leads to
serious health problems.
Key is to identify the root cause and then relieve the stress with deep
relaxation, induced through hypnosis. The client can then be taught new,
positive responses to their stresses, as generally it is the situation
themselves that causes us stress, it our reaction to them.
